Gibson 2002. Les Paul Junior in Tie Dye Finish Painted by Jim Dant #1 of 5.
Chrome Hardware.
From Sam Bass Collection.
This Gibson 2002 LP Studio is believed to be a 1 of 5 run. The story goes that these 5 guitars, 4 LP Studio and 1 LP Standard, were produced for Lenny Kravitz but they were never retrieved ; then they were sold to lucky folks on Gibson factory tours.
This story cannot be verified, but either way this particular guitar does have an interesting history, with or without Mr. Kravitz.
This particular guitar was owned by the late visual artist Sam Bass the only NASCAR Artist.
Sam Bass' gallery featured, not only his automotive racing artwork, but much of his musical and comic book inspired artwork as well. This particular guitar was used as part of a Spider Man display within the gallery.
Mr. Bass had a tremendous number of fine instruments that were meticulously maintained and catalogued.
Sam Bass died 02\16\2019, RIP.
