Some history about this guitar in Jeff Williams' own words :
This guitar was ordered in April of 88 and was delivered in September of 89, I had to wait extra six months because John Suhr had Steve Lukather begging to buy my neck carve! I had John copy my 85 PRS neck and Steve just loved it! John gave me an upgraded finish for the wait! (Porsche type purple/black) Paul Reed Smith, told me the carve was a copy of his LP Jr. that he loved and played.
I loved the feel of my PRS but didn't bond with the trem and tuning pegs.
The guitar I ordered from Rudy's was a Standard Custom, Alder body, Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard, the first guitar they sent me had a Floyd Rose on it and I sent it back! Rudy Pensa called me and said what's wrong and I told I just couldn't play a guitar with a Floyd Rose so he got John on the phone and I ordered the guitar I have now, this is the only one built without a Floyd Rose when he was at Rudy's.
Light weight Alder body, Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard, Gotoh trem, Sperzel locking tuners, the electronics have been changed from active to passive Florance single coils 60's and Rio Grande Humbucker.
I am very grateful to Jim Weyandt from www.jamcityguitars.com who forward me this information.
