Extract of what you can read about the the Paul 28:

Exotic tonewoods
According to Paul Reed Smith, the "Paul's 28" Limited Edition features a curly maple top that's "one of the curliest tops we've seen in our history." In fact, Paul procured the wood himself, trading a Dragon I for the very tree this top is made from! The body is also incredibly distinctive, made from painstakingly hand-selected ribbon-striped mahogany. And the neck...well, the pernambuco neck is the first of its kind that we've heard of. It's topped with an exotic black rosewood fingerboard. The headstock veneer is made from beautiful dark Mexican rosewood.

Gorgeous appointments
The "Paul's 28" Limited Edition's fingerboard inlays merit a showcase all to themselves. Rippled green abalone, paua heart, and mammoth ivory Celtic cross inlays all adorn this guitar's fingerboard. And, in addition to these fantastic appointments and the use of exotic tonewoods, PRS used a "paper-thin" nitrocellulose finish on the body. Says Smith: "I have been working on the stain method for the last two years."

Brand-new vintage pickups
While this exquisite PRS gives your eyes a feast, it's equally rewarding when you plug it in. Proprietary PRS 1957/2008 humbucking pickups (made from a PRS in-house stock of rare "new-old stock" materials) give you the best combination possible of vintage tone and modern performance.

More than just a limited edition
Looking over the incredible tonewoods and components is enough to get guitar aficionados salivating, but the fact that Paul Reed Smith himself was personally involved in the construction process really makes this guitar special. "I personally supervised the work and personally worked on this instrument throughout its creation. I picked out all the woods, re-carved the body to original shop specs, carved the neck by hand, stained it, helped finish it, helped sand it, spec'd out all of the pickups, and played and adjusted it until it was 'right'," Paul says. Plus, the fact that this instrument is limited to a worldwide run of 28 (18 of which are available in the U.S.)
