Yamaha 1989 Image Custom Sunburst

Yamaha 1989. Image Custom in Sunburst Finish.

#0Z03165.

The Yamaha Image Custom aka Yamaha MSG Custom is a double cut guitar designed by Martyn Booth in the UK. Martyn Booth now makes his own custom guitars. The Yamaha Image was based on the Gibson 335-S, a solid body version of the ES-335. In the UK the name "Image" was already taken so it was called the Yamaha MSG (Martyn's Solid Guitar). It featured a mahogany body with a carved maple top and a set-in mahogany neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard.

According to a 1990 Yamaha catalog, the Yamaha Image Custom has 2 Hybrid Integrated Pickup System Humbuckers (Yamaha GH-X which has active/passive options).

The vibrato is a Yamaha Vintage Pro which is of a needle-bearing type.

Other features are:

Gotoh Magnum Lock tuners.

Midrange boost.

Coil taps.

LED dot markers.
